Another railway of great interest is that, that branches off the main line at Galanta, and leads through the Vag valley to Zsolna on the Kaschau-Oderberg railway. It ascends the valley of the Vag and passes through one of the most beautiful districts of Upper Hungary. The Vag possesses a special charm, not only because of its rushing waters, and the hills, sometimes wooded, sometimes rocky, which surround it. but also on account of the numerous ruins of historic castles, which crown almost every summit and recall the vanished ages. Each of these castles, naturally, his its legend, more or less romantic, and the people always speak of subterranean passages, and bloody crimes, as if (here were still need to fear the anger of the lords who lived there formerly.
